Culver Post is a flagship post-production facility owned by Amazon Studios, created by transforming an existing movie theater complex in Culver City, California into a state-of-the-art post-production environment. The facility supports editorial, color correction, quality control, and finishing workflows for premium film and episodic content.
AskVidify’s team was directly involved in the engineering and technical delivery of Culver Post, working closely with Amazon Studios and system integration consultants from Diversified. The project combined large-format cinematic spaces with modern post-production technology while meeting the operational and quality demands of a major studio.
Retrofitting Movie Theaters for Post-Production
A central challenge of the project was adapting traditional theatrical spaces into color-accurate, production-grade post environments without compromising the cinematic experience.
Key engineering considerations included:
- Converting exhibition theaters into controlled post-production stages
- Managing acoustics, thermal load, and equipment integration
- Preserving sightlines and viewing geometry for creative review
- Supporting advanced display technologies alongside traditional projection
Each theater was re-engineered to function as a dedicated post-production and review stage, capable of supporting high-end finishing and client-facing sessions.
LED Cinema Displays and Advanced Viewing Environments
Culver Post features premium LED cinema displays designed for high-fidelity review and color-critical workflows.
The theaters include:
- 8K Samsung IWA LED screens, providing ultra-high-resolution, high-brightness viewing environments
- 4K Samsung Onyx LED screens, enabling HDR-capable cinematic review with exceptional contrast and uniformity
Engineering these LED-based theaters required careful coordination of signal paths, calibration workflows, and environmental controls to ensure accurate color reproduction and consistent viewing conditions across all stages.
These LED theaters allow creatives to review content at scale with precision, making them ideal for final color review, client screenings, and studio approvals.

4K and HDR Video Infrastructure with Flexible Routing
The facility was engineered to support 4K and HDR workflows across all theaters and post-production spaces, with flexible routing capabilities between rooms and shared resources.
Key capabilities included:
- Multiple routing paths between theaters, machine rooms, and post-production systems
- Dynamic reconfiguration of sources and destinations for review, grading, and QC
- Support for HDR and standard dynamic range workflows in parallel
- Scalable infrastructure designed to grow with evolving studio needs
This flexibility allowed engineering and operations teams to adapt workflows quickly without disrupting ongoing sessions.
Color Correction Systems: On-Prem and Cloud-Connected
Color grading was a core focus of the Culver Post design, supporting both traditional and modern cloud-enabled workflows.
The theaters supported:
- DaVinci Resolve systems deployed on-prem, delivering low-latency, color-critical grading
- Cloud-connected DaVinci Resolve workflows, enabling remote collaboration and scalable post-production pipelines
- Baselight color grading systems, supporting advanced finishing and studio-grade color workflows
- Reference-grade monitoring environments calibrated to studio specifications
This hybrid approach allowed Amazon Studios to balance performance, flexibility, and scalability across productions.
Integrated Quality Control in Every Theater
Each theater was equipped with dedicated quality control systems, ensuring consistent technical validation during review and finishing.
QC capabilities included:
- Sony QC systems deployed per theater
- Leader waveform and rasterizing scopes for detailed signal analysis
- Real-time monitoring of luminance, color accuracy, and signal integrity
- Immediate validation of deliverables during creative and technical review
Embedding QC directly into each theater reduced downstream issues and accelerated final approvals.
Collaboration with Diversified and Amazon Studios
AskVidify worked alongside Diversified as part of a multi-vendor engineering team responsible for system design alignment, routing strategy, and hands-on technical execution during installation and commissioning.
Close collaboration with Amazon Studios ensured the facility aligned with internal workflows, operational standards, and long-term scalability goals—particularly around cloud-connected post-production and advanced display technologies.
A Blueprint for Modern Studio Post-Production Facilities
Culver Post represents a modern approach to post-production facility design—combining large-format LED cinema displays, flexible 4K and HDR infrastructure, and hybrid on-prem and cloud-based workflows.
By retrofitting an existing theater complex, Amazon Studios created a future-ready post-production hub capable of supporting premium content at scale. For AskVidify, this project reflects our engineering consultancy expertise in designing and delivering reliable, adaptable media systems for high-end studio environments.
